Tumescent liposuction is our go-to procedure for minimally invasive liposuction in Baltimore. It reduces fat in areas of the body by making small incisions and delivering a potent solution called, Klein’s solution into the fat. Klein’s solution contains lidocaine and epinephrine in a diluted saline solution. The saline expands the fat, epinephrine narrows blood vessels to minimize bleeding, and lidocaine numbs the area. You can expect this part of the procedure to take between 45 and 60 minutes. The process of detumescence, where fluid percolates evenly across all layers, takes another 30 minutes. Then, we remove fat through small microcannulas that are 1.5 to 3 mm wide. Once we’ve completed liposuction, we bandage the small wounds created by the cannulas and dress our patients with a customized compression garment. The patient can then go home without needing to stay in the hospital.

You will have local anesthesia when you have minimally invasive liposuction in Baltimore. This means you will experience minimal to no pain during or for some time after the procedure.
When preparing for your liposuction treatment, avoid smoking two weeks prior to the surgery because it delays healing. You should also avoid ingesting any NSAIDs like ibuprofen for at least one week prior to the appointment. They can cause bruising or bleeding.
You should only need one session of minimally invasive liposuction per area.
You should be able to see the results from the liposuction a few weeks after the procedure when the swelling goes down.
